Kirsty , Kitchen and Bakery Supervisor at Mad Hatters Tearoom & Bakery in Chester.

Our Kirsty’s favourite cake!

Kirsty is our brilliant Kitchen and Bakery Supervisor, overseeing what happens in these busy and productive sections of the tearoom. She is also a hands-on baker within the small creative bakery team responsible for all the cakes, bakes and petit fours we serve. Kirsty can be found whizzing between the kitchen and bakery, yet always maintaining a sense of calm, with her unflappable character and dry wit!

Kirsty, what is your favourite cake?

Cheescake! Especially our Bisoff or Lemon & Passionfruit Meringue Cheesecake. We change the flavour all the time so there’s always something different. In the Lemon & Passionfruit Cheesecake, I love the tangy bursts of real passionfruit! It’s perfect for a special treat at the weekend and it makes a great ending to an Afternoon Tea.

A bit more about our Cheesecake…

Our cheesecakes are one of our weekend specials, homemade here in our bakery, with a different flavour on offer each weekend that reflects the season. In summer we may offer flavours like Lemon & Passionfruit, in winter Biscoff or something equally seasonal. Ask your servers during your visit for the day’s flavour. We also create special cheesecakes for events such as our sparkly Rainbow cheesecake during Chester Pride weekend and our Strawberry & Champagne variety for Valentine’s weekend. Our cheesecakes are baked, which gives them a richer, more indulgent flavour and texture than a chilled one. They are always something special and the bakery team give a lot of thought not only to the flavour but to the design and finish as well, so they look just a beautiful as they taste! Enjoy them as part of an Afternoon Tea, on their own or with a scoop of ice-cream!
